Gunslingers

(AHC – 12x60 – 2014 & 2015)

"There is no law, no restraint in this seething cauldron of vice and depravity."
– The New York Tribune describing Abilene, Kansas, 1878.

Throughout the 19th century, the nation west of the Mississippi truly was a wild place, crawling with outcasts, murderers, thieves and bounty hunters. Across this lawless landscape, a few brave heroes sought to uphold justice, and protect the innocent from an endless stream of gun wielding outlaws. Most scores were settled at the end of a smoking gun, and most disputes didn't end until someone was dead.

Gunslingers is a new (6x60) series for American Heroes Channel that takes a fresh creative approach to immerse viewers in the true stories and circumstances behind the iconic people, places and conflicts of the Old West. Many of the names are familiar – Billy the Kid, Jesse James, Wild Bill Hickok, Doc Holliday – but much of what we think we know about them is based more on legend than on fact. This series will be the first to complete a true picture of the notorious warriors who roamed the Wild West. It will be packed with little-known takeaway info about their lives and backgrounds, and put into true context the turbulent and dangerous world from which they sprang. Each episode will be a thrilling, heart-pounding ride alongside an infamous gunslinger as he navigates his way through a series of pivotal showdowns in a volatile place and time, when death could be lurking around any corner.

Gunslingers is a series about courage, about survival, about good versus evil in a world with no rules. These are the stories that shaped the American West – and influenced the America we now know more than we ever knew.
